Patient Benefits
The New York State Zero Lift Task Force is not only made up of healthcare workers, safety professionals and worker advocates, but parents, children, grandchildren, siblings and friends of patients. Part of ensuring that our loved ones have the best care possible is making sure that Safe Patient Handling programs are in place.
Safe Patient Handling uses the latest technology to assist patients with movement. The "old" method of lifting-Manual lifting- can cause patients fear, anxiety and discomfort, not to mention it increases the chance of slips, fall and drops. Patients can also develop skin tears and bruising due to manual lifting.
Safe Patient Handling Programs:
Improve safety and comfort
Reduce the risk of falls, drops, skin tears and bruising
Reduce fear and anxiety
Give residents/patients greater satisfation of their care
Makes residents/patients more independent
