Helpful Tips
- Carefully analyzing your risk assessments and care plans is key to knowing what will work best.
- Take stock of what equipment your facility already has and survey workers on what does and does not work.
- Know the logistics of your facility.(room dimensions, storage needs, bed sizes, other furniture dimensions,hallway widths, etc.)
- Take a test run. Vendors will usually let you try something out for a trial period.
- Have a maintenace plan for all of your equipment and train everyone on that plan. Plans for reporting problems, taking equipment out of service and replacing equipment are vital to sustaining a program.
- Regularly inspect and evaluate your equipment.
- New and improved equipment is being designed and manufactured rapidly as this issue gains more awareness. Stay current on new innovations and be sure to provide feedback to your vendor so that the quality of equipment keeps getting better and better.
